Speaker for the Week 2007

 

 

Rev. Mike Rose

 

 

Mike was born in Tucson, Arizona while his father was serving in the Air Force. They moved to Dodge City when he was

five, where he attended elementary, junior high and high school. He and his wife Theresa were married in 1975 and

have five children; Mike and his wife Jenica and their daughters Allison and Abigail who live in Hutchinson;

Marilee and her husband Karl Rutherford who live in Chicago; Rob and his wife Lindsey who live in Tucson;

and Paige and Ben who live at home in Salina.

 

 

Mike is a lifetime Methodist/United Methodist, growing up in 1st United Methodist Church in Dodge City.

After receiving his call into pastoral ministry at age 14, he answered the call some 20 years later.  In 1994 he

was appointed as a student pastor to the Penalosa-Zenda United Methodist Churches in Kingman County.

In 1996 he was appointed to help start a new church in Buhler, Kansas while he attended Phillips Theological

Seminary in Oklahoma. He graduated with honors in 2000 and in 2001 was appointed as

associate pastor to Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Derby where he served five years before

being appointed to University United Methodist Church in Salina. Mike has been a trained

Stephen Minister, Leader, and Pastor for over 20 years, has served eight years on the

Kansas West Conference Council on Finance and Administration, six years on the

KWC Congregational Growth and Development Committee, was Chaplain of United Methodist Youthville in Newton,

and has been a counselor and dean of a number of United Methodist church camps.
