How Summer Assembly Changed My Life

Sonya Moppin, 2005 Grand Prize Winner

I have been attending Summer Assembly for 13 years. I have loved going for 13 years. As long ago as I can remember I have always been very great friends with mostly the older folks.

The time when I dedicated my life to God is when I was 9 years old. I think that our speaker for the week was Rowdy Hrabi and somehow he touched me in very strong way. Towards the end of the week he had my grandma and Leota Stockwell play the organ and piano and told anyone that we could come up and pray with him. I was very scared of course because my friends wouldn’t go up to the alter with me. I finally had this very warm feeling in my heart and I walked up there. It was like I couldn’t control my own body and I prayed with Rowdy. I remember crying a lot that night because I had finally found my Jesus, Savior and father. I think that my crying was a good cry! Kerri Bacon and I talked a while and she knew God had touched me. I was so happy, the cool thing was that it was on my birthday. A lot of older friends gave me hugs, it was very inspirational.

I love Summer Assembly because of people like Karen, Roy and Clarice. All three of them have helped me and supported me in my walk with God. I love them for that. Janie, Kerri and many more have been so loving and kind. They are very AWESOME people! Every time Iwas sick Karen knew what to do and I always felt better. Roy, and Clarice are very good people to talk to. I really wish I could thank everybody who have helped me with my walk but I would lose count.

When I went back home after that awesome week of camp I was baptized and joined my church. I have brought a new friend to camp every year; I love to touch other people as well as my life with the love you get at camp. I love having my birthday at camp! I could write all night but I shouldn’t. Thanks for all the support and help you have given me Forest Park, friends and family. I LOVE YOU ALL! I am so lucky to have you in my life. I brag about camp a lot. I just feel like all of you are my family! LoveU!

Summer Assembly Rules!

Trey Stowe, 2007 Grand Prize Winner

Summer Assembly is important to me because I love going there to meet friends and learn about God.  I also have fun and make new friends.  Summer Assembly is a place of worshiping and a place to love and care for others.

My favorite thing is seeing my friends because I get to see them only 1 or 2 times a year.  I think Summer Assembly is a good loving place to be.

Plus I love seeing Forest Park during cleaning days and Summer Assembly.  I have a nine year record for coming to Summer Assembly.
